HomeAdvisor and Angie'sList

home repair and remodeling

This article compares HomeAdvisor and Angi, two of the most popular online review sites. Each has its pros and cons, but ultimately, it comes down to your personal choice. Continue reading to learn which one will best suit your needs. You can also search the sites for contractors qualified in your area. Which one has the best customer reviews? What's the difference between them all? We'll explain.

Angi

The Home Advisor website, which was created in 1998, changed its name and became Home Advisor in 2012. When it was first launched, it was called ServiceMagic. This website offered a variety of tools to estimate the cost of home development and help customers calculate the funding for their project. Home Advisor, while Angie's List is well-known for its consumer base and tools for home development cost estimation, puts professionals in context with total funding. This gives you a better idea of the cost for your home's renovation or repair.

The two websites are similar, as the name implies. Both sites attract 5 million visitors per month. HomeAdvisor, however, has a much larger member base. Angie's List is a paid site, but HomeAdvisor gives you the option to sign up for free and choose the services you need. Both sites can be useful for small and big projects. HomeAdvisor has a simpler rating system that makes it easier to select the best.

HomeAdvisor

Both directories offer free services. Both sites do background checks on professionals. This is part what makes these directories so popular. The key to ranking high on any directory is getting good reviews. Although most homeowners prefer HomeAdvisor reviews to other sites, this is not true for all customers. HomeAdvisor may not be as popular because it offers a free service.

Angie's List's HomeAdvisor does have one advantage: there are no anonymous review. Both services allow members to respond to reviews and their names will be displayed. That eliminates the risk of contractors posing as homeowners. Angie's List reviews and HomeAdvisor reviews have been written by homeowners. HomeAdvisor has more than 18 million reviews. This is the best resource if you're looking for assistance with home renovations.

Angie's List

Angie's List and HomeAdvisor are vastly different in the way they rank their contractors and how they reward them. HomeAdvisor claims over 10 million verified review, while Angie's List uses a letter grade system to reward contractors. Positive reviews on Angie's List have a higher value than those on HomeAdvisor. Angie's List allows companies with excellent ratings to purchase ads, while those with a lower rating can still use the site.

Angie's List is a better option for generating leads, despite the differences in their lead generation systems. But you need to impress your paying customers as well. Angie's List works best for projects that require little work. The company might not be profitable for a while. Angie's List is better for small projects with satisfied customers.

How To

How do you replace a broken window?

Replacing broken windows is one of the most common home improvement tasks. The task consists of repairing damage caused to the glass inside your house. The repair should take approximately 30 minutes. If you don't know how to replace broken glass, you could cause more damage to your home. This article contains some tips to help you replace a damaged window.

First, remove the old glass from its frame

First, remove all screws that hold the glass in place. The lock located at the top middle of the bottom portion of the window frame must be undone. Next, pull the window up slightly so it's no longer attached to the sill plate (the metal bar below the floor). Finally, use a pry tool to carefully loosen the remaining screws until they pop out of their holes. After the panes have been removed, you should clean them thoroughly.

Next step: Clean the glass

To remove dirt and grime from the glass' surface, use a paper towel or dry cloth. You can clean the glass with a spray bottle containing water and rubbing alcohol if there is any debris underneath.

The third step is to reinstall the glass

Reattach the window panes into the frames. Begin by pressing down on the outermost pane's lower edge with a screwdriver. Gently push down on the lower edge of the outermost pane with the tip of a screwdriver. Next, move on to the next pane and press it against the frame before attaching it. Continue inserting panes until all windows are assembled. You can seal the gap between the panes with a silicone caulk gun.

Fourth Step: Repair the affected area

To determine if additional repairs are necessary, inspect the area surrounding the hole before installing the glass. Inspect the area around the window for cracks near the corners. If so, add two small pieces wood to each side. These wooden blocks will strengthen the window while acting as spacers for the glass during expansion and contraction of the weatherproofing.

Fifth Step: Seal the repaired area

Apply silicone caulking around the edges of the frame after the glass has been replaced. This will create a good seal between the glass and the surrounding wallboard. Silicone caulking can be purchased at hardware stores and online. You should choose a color to match the wall paint.

Allow the caulking to cure overnight. Once the caulking is fully set, don't disturb it. If you don't wait enough, the caulking could crack when you take it off.
